{"id":2884,"date":"2025-04-15T07:03:57","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T07:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gunnewsusa.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/15\/melinda-gates-opens-up-about-her-divorce\/"},"modified":"2025-04-15T07:03:58","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T07:03:58","slug":"melinda-gates-opens-up-about-her-divorce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunnewsusa.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/15\/melinda-gates-opens-up-about-her-divorce\/","title":{"rendered":"Melinda Gates Opens Up About Her Divorce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"ignorediv\">\n                                        <!-- Story Text --><\/p>\n<p>Melinda French Gates has opened up on her 2021 divorce from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, calling the split &#8220;necessary.&#8221; Ms French Gates&#8217; response came weeks after her billionaire ex-husband said that their separation was the greatest regret of his life.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about Mr\u00a0Gates&#8217; remark in a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/life-style\/celebrity\/article\/bill-gates-interview-new-book-memoir-wh766b9bs\" rel=\"nofollow noindex\" target=\"_blank\">The Times <\/a>published on Sunday, she said it was &#8220;something necessary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you can&#8217;t live your values out inside your most intimate relationship, it was necessary,\u201d Ms French Gates said.<\/p>\n<p>Although she declined to explicitly address her ex-husband&#8217;s remarks, the philanthropist said,\u00a0\u201cI don&#8217;t even quite know what to make of that statement, so I&#8217;m not going to comment on what he says.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe&#8217;s got his own life. I have my life now. I am very happy,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Ms French Gates also addressed the emotional toll the divorce took on her, revealing she experienced panic attacks while they were separated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you&#8217;re leaving a marriage, it&#8217;s very, very hard. And the negotiations were tough,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She revealed that she started visiting a therapist in 2014 after experiencing her first panic attack at a lunch date with Mr\u00a0Gates. They were still married at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Though initially doubtful, she eventually realised its benefits. \u201cIt doesn&#8217;t mean I&#8217;m damaged. It means I&#8217;ve been through some difficult things that I need to figure out,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>In a February interview with NBC&#8217;s TODAY regarding his new book, \u2018Source Code,&#8217; Mr\u00a0Gates was questioned why he\u00a0referred to his divorce from Ms French Gates as his \u201cbiggest regret.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe divorce wasn&#8217;t great. Having those three kids, the work we were able to do together &#8211; even if I knew that it wouldn&#8217;t last forever, I would still do it again,\u201d the Microsoft co-founder replied.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gates and Ms French Gates separated in 2021 after being married for 27 years.
