href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/pope-francis-open-casket-funeral-date-plans-announced-vatican\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">the papal funeral<\/a><\/span> on Saturday in Vatican City, according to multiple people with knowledge of his plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Though final details are still not yet set, Biden does intend to attend, the people said.<\/p>\n<p>Francis began his papacy in 2013 during the Obama administration, but former President Barack Obama is not planning to attend, according to a spokesman. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"embed Monday at the age of 88<\/a><\/span> following a stroke. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He has been <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/pope-lying-in-state-tens-of-thousands-st-peters-basilica\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">lying in state<\/a><\/span> at St. Peter&#8217;s Basilica since Wednesday, where tens of thousands of mourners have come to pay their final respects. <\/p>\n<p>Among those heads of state attending the funeral will be Ukrainian
