Video of the incident has gone viral on social media and shows longtime Northville High School coach Jim Zullo, 81, approaching the team&#8217;s star player Hailey Monroe, who appears to be crying after the match. Mr Zullo reaches out and violently pulls her ponytail, before yelling at her.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Monroe then appears to try to get away from Mr Zullo who continues berating her as another player tries to get him to stop.<\/p>\n<p><!--MIDTABOOLA--><\/p>\n<p>The district in Northville said that it was \u201cdeeply disturbed\u201d by the conduct of its coach and that the \u201cindividual will no longer be coaching\u201d for the team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We assure the public that this matter is being taken extremely seriously, and the District is actively addressing it,&#8221; the Northville Central School District said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The District will be following up with the affected players and their families to provide support and outline the actions we are taking in response to this incident.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In his defence, Mr Zullo told <a class=\"sp_lnk2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news10.com\/sports\/northville-girls-basketball-coach-jim-zullo-fired-for-postgame-incident-with-player\/\" rel=\"noindex,nofollow\"><em>News10 ABC <\/em><\/a>that prior to the incident caught on camera, the player had directed an expletive at him when he instructed her to shake hands with the opposing team.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A coach was fired after pulling a girl&#8217;s ponytail following their state title loss.
